Juventus’ captain has added a couple more years onto his contract and gotten a nice raise to go along with it.

First it was Kenan Yildiz and his big pay day that cemented himself as the centerpiece of Juve’s future.

Then it was Weston McKennie and his Harry Potter celebration getting some long-term security at long last. Then it was the manager himself, Liciano Spalletti, who finally signed the contract extension we all expected him to last week. Now, it’s time for Juventus’ captain to be the next one to extend his contract in Turin.

That day came on Friday when Juve announced that Manuel Locatelli has signed a contract extension through 2030 that will see the 28-year-old Italian midfielder get a sizable raise as part of his new deal. It is the latest sign of Juventus’ front office locking in some of their most important pieces into long-term deals that run into the new decade — and Locatelli is proving to be a key component of that as he continues to play some of his best ball during his time with the Bianconeri under the same manager who just signed his own contract extension, albeit “only” through 2028 a week ago. Locatelli’s previous deal ran through 2028, with his salary set to go up to around €4 million with his new contract being signed.
