Jay Jay Wilson wants Alfie Davis after PFL Belfast KO stunner
With the biggest win of his career in his back pocket, Jay Jay Wilson already knows who he wants next.
After he handed Darragh Kelly the first loss of his career, Jay Jay Wilson immediately set his sights on what he wants next. Wilson (12-2) stunned the fans at The SSE Arena in Belfast when he took out their main event favorite, Darragh Kelly (9-1), just 37 seconds into their fight Thursday in Northern Ireland. Wilson stayed right in the pocket with Kelly early, hit him with a body kick, then immediately floored him with a left hook.
Wilson, from New Zealand, was set to meet Paul Hughes in the headliner, but Kelly stepped up as a replacement. It didn't go how he was hoping. Now Wilson wants Alfie Davis (20-6-1), who is just about 10 weeks removed from a third-round submission loss to lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov in a title fight in Dubai.
A win like that, he figures, could stake his claim for a title shot of his own. "I knew that he was going to come out and grapple," Wilson told Dan Hardy in the cage after his win. "My plan was to land some strikes, and I got to land the stuff I was training.
I managed to catch him with the hook and win the fight. "There's a little Alfie in this division who needs a beating, so Alfie Davis, I'm coming for you in June in San Diego. Let's do it.
