But in an alternate universe, one or both of them could be playing for the Philadelphia 76ers instead. In both the 2016 and 2017 NBA Drafts, the 76ers had the first pick and the Celtics had the third pick. Philadelphia could have drafted Brown and/or Tatum.
Instead, the Sixers took Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz, neither of whom is with the team anymore. Brown and Tatum went to Boston, where they've enjoyed nothing but success over the last nine years. On Friday, Tatum expressed how grateful he is for his partnership with Brown and getting drafted by the Celtics.
