Fromer Bemidji State defenseman Mitch Wolfe inks ECHL deal with Cincinnati
Apr. 17—CINCINNATI, Ohio — Mitch Wolfe became the fourth Bemidji State men's hockey player from the 2025-26 season to sign a pro contract. On Tuesday, Wolfe put pen to paper to play for the Cincinnati Cyclones, the ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Wolfe, a 6-foot, 190-pound left-shot defenseman, played four seasons with the Beavers. He collected five goals and 23 assists as a shutdown blueliner in 134 games. Wolfe was second among all BSU skaters in time on ice at 20:48, trailing only his defensive partner, sophomore Hudson Thornton.
Along with being an alternate captain, Wolfe was a two-time CCHA Defenseman of the Week, once as a sophomore (March 4) and again as a senior (Nov. 10). Wolfe is an Andover native who spent two seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Des Moines Buccaneers, scoring eight goals and 26 assists in 104 games.
Wolfe joins Reilly Funk (Toledo Waleye), Kirklan Irey (Atlanta Gladiators) and Vince Corcoran (Worcester Railers). Funk leads all BSU pro signings in scoring with two goals and four assists in 17 games. Irey had a two-goal game on April 11 against Jacksonville and has three points in 11 games.
Corcoran scored his first pro goal on April 10 against Greensboro and has three points in seven games.
