Caleb Williams took forward steps in 2025, but Ben Johnson wants more
Caleb Williams showed massive growth in Year 2, but Ben Johnson will push him to take that next step in Year 3 with the Bears
Caleb Williams showed in Year 2 with the Chicago Bears that he is everything he was expected to be coming out of USC. He took a big leap forward last season. He reduced the number of sacks he was taking, and he showed just how good he can be in clutch moments.
There is still, however, one area Ben Johnson wants him to address. In a recent Bears Wire article by Alyssa Barbieri, Ben Johnson's statement about Caleb Williams and one of his goals this season was highlighted. Here is what Ben Johnson had to say about Caleb being more efficient as a passer: โIf we want to be elite, we want to be that 70 percent marker,โ Johnson said, via CHGO .
โWe fell short of that. And we donโt shy away from that. I think when you look at it, for us to get to 65 percent completion even, cut that in half, we need to find 40 more completions over the course of the season.
Well, let me tell you something. When you watch the self-scout, thereโs 80, 90, 100 completions we left out on the table. And Iโm not just talking about passes dropped.
