Potawatomi Nation to build new softball field, second largest in state
The Citizen Potawatomi Nation is opening a new, 4,100-seat, softball field in Shawnee by spring 2027.
The Potawatomi Nation announced a new Championship Field at the FireLake Ball Fields in Shawnee, expected to open in Spring 2027, just in time for softball season. The new stand-alone field will be the second largest in the state, holding up to 4,100 fans. FireLake's facilities host amateur, high school and collegiate slowpitch and fastpitch softball competitions year-round.
The new stadium will feature a 24-by-32 digital scoreboard and will also be designed to host events beyond softball. The fields are designed with Division 1 guidelines in mind. The current FireLake complex features 10 synthetic softball fields of smaller capacities, with fields 5-10 being built in 2025.
