Witten headed to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026

FRISCO, Tx. — Elizabethton native Jason Witten may still be waiting on a call from Canton, but he officially found a home in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Thursday night. The legendary tight end was surprised with the honor during his annual Collegiate Man of the Year awards ceremony in Frisco, Texas.

Known as the NFL’s “iron man,” Witten was a model of consistency. After being drafted in 2003, he missed only one game across 17 seasons, racking up 1,228 receptions and 10 Pro Bowl nods. Reflecting on the honor, Witten noted that the journey and the people who supported him were the true rewards.

The 2012 Walter Payton Man of the Year is now taking his expertise to the sidelines as the new tight ends coach for the University of Oklahoma. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
