Some local flavor for the purple

When Day Two of this year’s selection meeting rolls around in Pittsburgh, a face with some local flavor is going to be announcing the picks for our favorite team. Offensive tackle Brian O’Neill has been announced as the person who will be announcing the Vikings’ picks on Friday for this year’s Draft.
The NFL has had legends and current players announcing picks on Draft Friday for the past few years, and O’Neill has gotten that honor for the Vikings this season. O’Neill, who played his college football at the University of Pittsburgh, was himself selected on Day Two of an NFL Draft, as the Vikings selected him in the second round back in 2018. With the Panthers, he was a First-Team All-ACC selection as a senior, and has gone on to earn two Pro Bowl berths as a member of the Vikings since joining them.
As it stands right now, barring any trades, O’Neill will get to announce three picks for the Vikings, one in Round 2 and two in Round 3. If the Vikings keep that second-round pick, it will be the first selection they’ve made in Round 2 since 2022, when they selected both Andrew Booth and Ed Ingram. The Vikings did not have a second-round pick in 2023, 2024, or 2025 because of trades they had made.
