With No Real Roster Holes, How Can Broncos Ace Draft And Put Best Foot Forward?
The Denver Broncos had a phenomenal 2025 season that culminated in a AFC Championship appearance because of a structurally sound roster that contains tons of depth.
The 2025 National Football League season for the Denver Broncos was its best in a decade and it culminated in an American Football Conference Championship berth and nearly a Super Bowl appearance. Although the Broncos came up short against the New England Patriots, losing 10-7 in brutal weather conditions, it was a great steppingstone for what’s to come in quarterback Bo Nix’s career. Speaking of Nix , the team probably comes away victorious if he doesn’t break his ankle at the end of the AFC divisional round against the Buffalo Bills.
Having to play one of the best teams in the league with your backup QB that hasn’t seen game reps in over two years is tough to do, but because of how good the rest of the team is, the Broncos were in the game the whole time and had opportunities to score more points. Because this team has no roster holes, especially after re-signing several key players and trading for star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle during the offseason, ESPN’s Ben Solak found it hard to determine how the Broncos could ace its draft. Denver doesn’t have a first- or third-round pick, but it can use the second- and later-round picks to address future departures.
While Denver’s offensive line is one of the best in the league that features All-Pro tackle Garett Bolles and All-Pro guard Quinn Meinerz, Bolles and several other linemen are getting older, and the team needs to account for that during the draft. “Left guard Ben Powers is turning 30 and has one year left on his deal; right tackle Mike McGlinchey is turning 32 and has two expensive years left on his contract, and his play has begun deteriorating,” Solak wrote Thursday. “I like developmental offensive lineman at No.
62 more than any other position -- especially because Denver has spent exactly one fifth-rounder and two seventh-rounders along the offensive line in the past four drafts. ” Really the only position group that is a bit depleted when it comes to depth is offensive line, so adding at least one or two linemen that can be molded into the next Bolles, Meinerz or McGlinchey would set the Broncos up for much more success in the coming years. Solak believes that other than offensive line, seeking depth at linebacker and cornerback wouldn’t be a bad idea.
