Late Thursday night, Hofstra combo guard Cruz Davis committed to Texas Tech.

It came following a visit with the Red Raiders that got this one across the finish line, something Mark Pope and his staff have struggled to do thus far into the portal season. Cruz was planning to visit Kentucky, so this is another miss in an offseason that’s already had several painful ones. The good news is that there are still plenty of quality guards available, and several are seeing what Kentucky has to offer.

Furman’s Alex Wilkins is wrapping up a visit to Lexington, and Colgate’s Jalen Cox is expected to see Kentucky this week as well. Toledo’s Leroy Blyden is another player who could visit at some point. Time for Pope to get one of these guys signed up for next season.
