It's rather obvious that the New York Mets are missing something right now, and it seems like there's more than just a little something.

That something would be an $800 million player in Juan Soto, one of the best players in Major League Baseball. With Soto out of this lineup due to his injury, things look a lot different than they typically do. However, while that doesn't excuse the Mets from losing seven games in a row, it does add some context to what's going on in New York.

Regarding when he will return, it doesn't sound like it's right around the corner. It was reported that we're still looking at two to three weeks and that Soto still hasn't started running. โ€œA timeline of two to three weeks has been set for his return, and he has already begun hitting and playing catch.

But not running suggests that his return will come toward the latter side of that timetable,โ€ Joe Pantorno of AMNY wrote of Soto. With a lower-body injury, running is the biggest part here, so they will have to get his body going if he wants to return to the field in two to three weeks. I suspect that if he feels fine running, we could see him back a bit earlier than those two to three weeks, but the Mets have to be cautious here.
