Is Lawrence on his way out of New York?

Bears given best possible news on potential trade for Giants’ Dexter Lawrence originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . When Dexter Lawrence of the New York Giants requested a trade, it didn't seem like there was much of a chance for him to actually be moved.

The Giants are trying to compete right away, evident by the decision to bring in John Harbaugh, so moving on from one of their better defensive players, and one of the best defensive players in the NFL, just wouldn't have made a whole bunch of sense. However, according to the latest report, it sounds like teams like the Chicago Bears will have an opportunity to trade for Lawrence. The Bears are expected to be one of the teams interested in the star's services via trade.

“The #Giants and star DL Dexter Lawrence, who have been talking about a new big-money extension, have reached an impasse, sources say. The Giants have engaged with teams on a potential trade and that will continue. It should come to a head before the Draft,” Ian Rapoport posted on X.

Anything that happens with Lawrence will come down to what the trade package will have to be and what he's seeking on the market. If Lawrence wants to be paid upon being traded and is looking for some ridiculous deal, it's possible the Bears won't want to go in that direction. However, from a pure player standpoint, he'd be a nice addition in Chicago.
