Mandatory Credit: Christopher Hanewinckel-Imagn Images Part of the fun of the draft each year are the guests tapped to announce various picks throughout the the event. Keith Brooking announced one for the Falcons last year, and two years ago, my favorite Falcons RB of all time, Bijan Robinson, used his turn to let a young fan announce the pick in his place .

Until Bijan’s rookie season, Michael Turner was my favorite Falcons running back of all time, and he’s officially set to announce one of the Falcons’ Day 2 picks this year. I’m delighted by this news, and I doubt that’s a controversial opinion. In addition to being a ow can you not love a dude who, while carrying the ball in his other arm, used his forearm to lift Eric Weems off the ground and basically threw him at a defender to keep his lane clear .

Turner the Burner was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 draft by the then-San Diego Chargers. After four seasons of pretty meh performances with the Chargers, he landed with the Falcons in Matt Ryan’s rookie season and posted 1699 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, definitely making Ryan’s entry into the NFL a little easier. Over five seasons with the Falcons, Turner contributed 6,081 yards and 60 touchdowns on the ground.

He was a first-team All-Pro in 2008, a second-team All-Pro in 2010, and a two-time Pro Bowler. He retired in 2012. The Falcons hold the No.
