The Spaniard had originally planned for a packed clay-court schedule, but this injury will likely force him to scale back those plans in the build-up to Roland Garros.
This isn’t the first time an injury has disrupted Alcaraz’s clay-court run. He missed both Monte-Carlo and Barcelona in 2022 and withdrew from Rome last year, all due to fitness issues. The Spaniard has picked up 11 titles on the surface so far, but he’s also missed at least one event each year due to injuries. Even last season, when he won three of the four Masters events on clay, he still had to skip Madrid with another injury. On the bright side, Alcaraz has never missed Roland Garros because of an injury.
In fact, he’s won the tournament back-to-back years, including a memorable comeback against Jannik Sinner in 2025. The last person to beat him at Roland Garros was Novak Djokovic, who took him down in the 2023 semi-finals.
