Chris McIntosh's tenure as Wisconsin AD gets mostly low grades in poll

Yahoo Sports

We asked readers to grade Chris McIntosh's tenure as Wisconsin athletic director. Here are the results of the poll.

Chris McIntosh 's tenure as Wisconsin athletic director included coaching hires, a major fundraising effort for a new athletic center and lobbying for recently approved legislation to provide annual taxpayer funding for the UW athletic department . There were many other decisions during his tenure, of course, but perhaps the pivotal one that will be most remembered by fans is his choice to hire Luke Fickell to lead Wisconsin football . As McIntosh departs for a new role in the Big Ten office as deputy commissioner for strategy, we asked fans to grade McIntosh's tenure as Wisconsin AD.

It's fair to say that any grades deserve to be revisited after the future of the football program plays out over time under Fickell. But for now, the struggling program – with no bowl appearances the last two seasons and a 17-21 record under Fickell – no doubt leaves a mark on McIntosh's current grade as AD, and that appears to play out in voting results among readers. Poll results In our poll asking readers to grade McIntosh's tenure as Wisconsin AD, 40% of voters gave McIntosh a D grade among the 792 total votes we received, with 27% offering a slightly higher approval with a C.

Of the remaining votes, 1. 8% of voters gave him an A grade, 9. 3% gave him a B, and 22% gave him an F.

Ultimately, time will likely tell the final tale of those grades. This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Chris McIntosh's tenure as Wisconsin AD gets mostly low grades in poll
