Duke softball earns biggest win of the year, moves 20 games over .500
The Duke Blue Devils earned their most impressive win of the season, defeating No. 7 ranked Tennessee.
After defeating the UNC Tar Heels in a series this past weekend, the Duke Blue Devils returned to action Wednesday night in their biggest game of the season. They hosted No. 7 ranked Tennessee, looking for their 10th win this season against a ranked opponent.
Cassidy Curd kept the Lady Volunteers at bay, allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings while striking out five. With the victory, Curd picked up her 15th win of the season, and her record now sits at 15-2 on the year. At the plate, shortstop Jessica Oakland and third baseman Tyrina Jones did the majority of the damage, combining for four of the team's seven hits and five of the team's six RBIs.
The Blue Devils would hold on afterward to earn a 6-3 victory. The win marked Duke's 32nd of the season, as they now sit 32-12, 20 games over . 500.
