2026 NFL draft: QB Ty Simpson tied more to Arizona Cardinals than any other team
As the 2026 NFL draft approaches, there appears to be momentum again building for the Arizona Cardinals drafting QB Ty Simpson.
A week before the 2026 NFL draft, the buzz about the Arizona Cardinals and Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson returns. For a few weeks, it came up in almost every mock draft. That trend has returned, and apparently with good reason.
Multiple mock drafts this week either have the Cardinals drafting Simpson with their second-round pick or trading back into the first round to draft him. Simpson had his top-30 official visit with the Cardinals this week on the final day of draft visits and, when this visit was reported, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added an interesting note . He wrote on X, "In league circles, Simpson has been linked to Arizona more than any other team.
" For those hoping the Cardinals draft the Alabama quarterback, this is good news. It could also be simply expectations around the league because the Cardinals have the least established quarterback room in the league. Their quarterback room consists of Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew and Kedon Slovis.
Brissett went 1-11 as a starter last season and is 20-45 in his career when starting. Minshew is 17-30. Slovis will be lucky to be on an NFL roster by Week 1.
