Ex-Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Alex Manninger dies after his car was hit by a train

Manninger began his club career at Arsenal before playing in Italy and Germany.

Former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Alexander Manninger died on Thursday after the car he was driving was hit by a train. He was 48 years old. Per OE 24, the train collided with Manninger’s car at a railroad crossing in Salzburg, Austria.

The report said that Manninger had been pulled from his car by the time first responders arrived on scene, but emergency personnel were unable to resuscitate him. Investigators have preliminarily determined that the car was dragged by the train after impact. We mourn the loss of our former player Alexander Manninger, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident.
