Eagles GM responds to Jalen Hurts’ criticism: ‘It’s unfortunate’
Eagles GM Howie Roseman addresses Jalen Hurts' criticism.
PHILADELPHIA — This is a make-or-break year for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. If Hurts plays well in a new offensive scheme under Sean Mannion and helps the Eagles contend for another Super Bowl, he could strengthen his standing with the franchise and solidify himself as the long-term answer at quarterback. If Hurts plays poorly next season and the Eagles fall short of expectations again, his future with the team could be in jeopardy.
That was made clear in ESPN’s latest report , which detailed how some people within the Eagles’ organization are frustrated with Hurts’ unwillingness to adapt his playing style and his standoffish approach as a teammate. Some faction of the team is reportedly unhappy with Hurts, and the Eagles have not signed him to a new extension as he enters the final year of guaranteed money on his current contract in 2026. Now, it’s fair to wonder if the Eagles are confident Hurts is still their QB of the future or if they’re starting to have doubts.
“I have seen those reports. ... I would say we have some faults.
One of them is not being direct and honest with our players in our conversations with our players,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told reporters on Tuesday at the Jefferson Training Health Complex. “For us, if we have any issue with our players, we talk to them directly. So, from my perspective, from Nick’s (Sirianni’s) perspective, from Jeffrey’s (Lurie’s) perspective, we’re not hiding behind anything.
