Former Bundesliga goalkeeper Alexander Manninger dies in traffic accident According to reports from several outlets, including Sky, Bild and Kicker, former FC Augsburg goalkeeper Alexander Manninger has died at the age of 48 in a tragic traffic accident in Austria on Thursday. Manninger made 33 appearances for the Austrian national team between 1999 and 2009. During his career, he was under contract with several major clubs, including Arsenal, Juventus and Liverpool.

Towards the end of his playing days, Manninger moved to Germany, where he spent four seasons at FC Augsburg and made a total of 36 Bundesliga appearances.
