Ball State football will host its spring showcase on Saturday. Here are some of the big storylines of this year's team to keep an eye on.

Ball State football fans will get their first chance to see the team take the field at Scheumann Stadium this weekend. The Cardinals are hosting their annual spring showcase on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p. m.

The culmination of 15 spring workouts for the team, the showcase will feature practice scenarios along with 11-on-11 contact in situational scrimmages. It is the only spring practice open to the public. Ball State is coming off a 4-8 season under first year head coach Mike Uremovich.

Like last year, the Cardinals have plenty of new faces with 23 freshmen and 29 transfers. Unlike last year, the players on the field Saturday will be the same ones on the field for the first game since there is no longer a spring transfer portal window. Who has upper hand in Ball State football QB competition? Everyone loves a good quarterback competition, and Ball State appears to have one this season following the departure of last year's top three QBs. The Cardinals have five quarterbacks rostered.
