Mike Evans reveals several reasons he decided to join 49ers

New San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans had a slew of reasons he chose to join his new team.

The San Francisco 49ers made a huge splash early in free agency this year when they landed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver on a three-year, $42. 4 million contract. It turns out the Buccaneers offered Evans more money, but the future Hall of Famer chose instead to change coasts and join the 49ers.

In an interview with All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner on Warner's podcast, Evans revealed why he chose San Francisco as his free agency destination. "You're part of the reason ... seriously," Evans said.

"Obviously we've known each other before, but I've admired your game and a lot of your teammates' game and y'alls culture. And the stadium and the way it feels to play there, and it just made sense for me to go out there and finish my career strong in San Francisco. " Warner then relayed a story about a Pro Bowl he and Evans were both in where Evans got along well with 49ers stars like Christian McCaffrey and Kyle Juszczyk, and how he knew Evans would fit in well with San Francisco well before he even joined the club.

Evans, 32, is coming off an injury-plagued season where he played in only eight games. His 368 yards were a career-low after 11-consecutive years of at least 1,000 yards to begin his career. San Francisco offers Evans a fresh start and a chance to regain his status as one of the top receivers in the NFL.
