Ohio State basketball reserve guard Gabe Cupps committed to the University of Illinois-Chicago out of the transfer portal this week.

When Gabe Cupps transferred to Ohio State from Indiana last year, it was a homecoming of sorts for the Ohio product. That marriage lasted just one year, however, when Cupps entered the transfer portal again after last season, in which he was used in a reserve role. Cupps joined several Buckeyes who jumped in the portal at the end of the season, and we've been keeping tabs on where all of them land.

In Cupps' case, he committed to the University of Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday after spending his first two seasons in Bloomington and a somewhat disappointing one in Columbus last year. The Centerville, Ohio, native played just 12. 3 minutes per game and averaged 1.

7 points and 1. 1 assists in the Scarlet and Gray. He was used as a ball-handler and distributor mostly, and shot just 37.

8% from the floor. He is now looking for a new home where he can carve out some more playing time, and he should be able to do just that with the Flames of the Missouri Valley Conference.
