According to right-hander Luis Garcia's MLB transactions log , the NL East club released him on Wednesday afternoon. The 14-year Major League veteran will become a free agent. Garcia made his Major League debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013, and he's spent time with nine different clubs throughout his career.

During the offseason, the Mets signed Garcia to a one-year, $1. 75 million contract, but things didn't work out as either party had hoped. He allowed five earned runs and 11 hits in just 6.
