Red Sox’ Jarren Duran on reacting to fan: ‘Somebody just told me to kill myself’
MINNEAPOLIS — Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was caught on camera giving the middle finger to a fan at Minnesota’s Target Field after he grounded out in the fifth inning Tuesday. “I’m used to it at this point. I mean, (expletive) happens. I’m gonna flip somebody off if they say something to me.
But it is what it is. I shouldn’t react like that. But that kind of stuff is still kind of triggering.
So it happens. ” Duran opened up about his prior suicide attempt in the Netflix documentary, " The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox ," released April 8, 2025. “Honestly, it’s my fault for talking about my mental health because I kind of brought in the haters,” Duran said.
“So it’s something I’ve got to get used to. ” This is not the first time Duran claimed this happened. He stared and pointed into the stands at a fan at Cleveland’s Progressive Field on April 27, 2025, after the fan told him, “Go (expletive) kill yourself .
