Commanders land offensive help in Dane Brugler's 7-round mock draft
In The Athletic's Dane Brugler's latest 7-round mock draft, he gives the Commanders some major offensive help with their first two picks.
As the 2026 NFL Draft rapidly approaches, mock drafts are everywhere you look in the NFL. As the media attempts to determine which teams will draft which players, each NFL team is scrambling to complete top-30 visits, evaluate prospective players, and finalize its draft boards. Once the draft starts on April 23, though, all bets are off.
Anything can happen, and there are usually at least a few surprises. The Athletic's Dane Brugler recently released a seven-round mock draft that suggested the Washington Commanders would select Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love with the No. 7 overall pick.
A backfield that includes Jayden Daniels and Love would be bad news for defenses. Though the price tag is high for the position, Love has the talent to become a top-five running back before the end of his rookie contract. He's not wrong, a backfield that includes both Love and Jayden Daniels would be terrifying for opposing defenses.
Daniels' ability to move outside the pocket and extend plays is scary enough, but when you add in a dynamic running back like Love, defenses have to be ready for anything. Love is just as capable of catching the ball as he is running it. During his final two seasons at Notre Dame, Love recorded over 1,100 rushing yards and over 200 receiving yards in each of those seasons.
