No. 10 UCLA softball defended Easton Stadium against Cal Baptist with seven runs in the sixth to get the win.

The No. 10 UCLA softball team blew away the Cal Baptist Lancers with a mid-week 13-6 win at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Bruins continued their trend of obliterating the competition following their series sweep against Illinois and increasing their win streak to nine.

While UCLA senior right-handed pitcher Taylor Tinsley held down the middle of the diamond for the Bruins, allowing six hits and a walk leading to six runs in seven innings. UCLA batters had a field day with 13 runs off of 10 hits. Let there be runs Cal Baptist got the best of Tinsley in the top of the first with four hits leading to four runs.

UCLA didn't flinch, as they battled back with two home runs from sophomore outfielder Rylee Slimp and senior infielder Jordan Woolery to get it back to a 4-2 game. Slowing it down Tinsley regained her footing in the second and allowed just one hit, but no runs to keep Cal Baptist at a two-run lead. UCLA was unable to take advantage though with two base runners coming off of the Lancers pitching miscues, but they did not lead to runs for the Bruins.

Battling back Tinsley gave up two more hits in the top of the third, including a two-run homer to put Cal Baptist up 6-2, but UCLA came storming back in the bottom of the inning. Woolery hit her second homer of the game and redshirt junior center fielder Alexis Ramirez hit a two-run homer to cut into the Lancers lead. UCLA was down one run entering the fourth.
