Liverpool FC pays tribute on 37th anniversary of Hillsborough tragedy
On the 37th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, players, staff and club officials of Liverpool Football Club have been at Anfield to lay wreaths and pay tribute to the 97 fans who lost their lives. The club will observe a period of silence at 15:06 BST - the time at which Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest in 1989 was stopped. After the silence, 97 biodegradable balloons will be released from the centre circle at Anfield.
Tributes also took place before Tuesday's Champions League tie against Paris St-Germain, including a period of silence before kick-off, players wearing black armbands and a mosaic formed on the Kop.
