The FIFA World Cup will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. But the name makes it sound a little different.

Hey FIFA, MetLife Stadium is in New Jersey, not New York! That's the sentiment of proud New Jerseyans who reacted on social media to the MetLife Stadium name changing to New York New Jersey Stadium during the FIFA World Cup matches. โ€œNew Jersey Stadium.

MetLife Stadium , along with 14 out of the 16 venues that will host World Cup games, will undergo rebranding ahead of the national event. FIFA, the corporate sponsor of the World Cup, will not allow specific branding or sponsorship labels in any of the participating stadiums. That is why MetLife Stadium will need to go through the name change.

But MetLife Stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey. New York is our friendly neighbor, but should their name be attached? At least put New Jersey first, FIFA.
