After a disastrous Masters for all but one of LIV’s players, the tour’s standing in the golfing world has never been lower. Could one of the tour’s biggest stars, like Bryson DeChambeau or Jon Rahm, be leaving to rediscover their major form? Or could the tour be folding altogether?
Only time will tell, but Brandel Chamblee predicted that this could mean the end of LIV forever. Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images Brandel Chamblee predicts the end of LIV Golf LIV Golf completely abandoned its identity this season to allow its players to qualify for and win major championships. They abandoned the 54-hole format, which gave the tour its name, moving to a 72-hole format, which aligns with the majors.
And with their two biggest stars, DeChambeau and Rahm , winning the three LIV events before The Masters, and with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler seemingly out of sorts in the build-up to Augusta, they couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to win the first major of the year. Instead, DeChambeau missed the cut , Rahm never looked competitive, and McIlroy won over second-place Scheffler . Only one LIV player, Tyrrell Hatton , finished in the top 30, and Sergio Garcia was given a code-of-conduct warning.
