Alex Vesia was pointing to a group of special people after recording his 15th overall and second save of the season on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
The Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever struck out the New York Mets ' sluggers in order in the ninth inning, winning the game 2-1. Jorge Polanco, Bo Bichette and Francisco Alvarez failed to put the ball in play against Vesia, who turned 30th on Tuesday. In his post-game interview, Vesia revealed that he and his wife, Kayla, invited their late daughter's medical staff, including nurses and staff members, to the game.
The reliever was showing his gratitude towards them with his post-game gesture. "Tonight my wife and I have put together all the nurses and staff that had helped us through one of the you know, the hardest times of our lives. There were 27-30 nurses and doctors and you know, we just wanted to give back to them because they've helped us out more ways than one.
