Rebilas-Imagn Images After giving the media a chance to speak to head coach Greg Schiano, offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca, and defensive coordinator Travis Johansen, the program has started the press conferences where members of the media can ask questions to position coaches. This time, it was Studs Coach Charlie Noonan’s turn at the podium, having the chance to speak publicly in front of the media for the first time since being moved to the role. A lot of questions that Noonan answered during the press conference had to do with his transition to being the STUDS coach and how well he is fitting in with the new coaching staff.
He praised the new coaching staff coming in while saying that the transition to a new position group is going great, and that he is really excited to work in the secondary, because the core values of the program, which have been instilled in him since he was a player, remain consistent no matter what position groups he coaches. During the press conference, Noonan was asked to describe what a STUDS category actually means. “Yeah, so the studs is gonna be a flexible position.
I mean, it’s gonna be as versatile as you probably can get. I mean, you know, in terms of what that looks like week per week, it can change. Yeah, I mean, you’re gonna ask him to do a lot of different things, like you’re gonna ask every position on defense, but the studs, you know, he’s gonna have to be a guy that can run, a guy that can, you know, set the edge, and the guy that can, you know, cover somebody, too.
So he’s gonna, again, that’s gonna be really flexible. I think it’s gonna be a position that, you know, varies from week to week. ” Later in the press conference, Noonan was asked if anyone in the position group has stood out so far and if he has an idea of who will be starting in the fall.
