Florida and Bethune-Cookman went back and forth for six innings until the Wildcats broke things open with seven runs in the seventh.

Florida baseball suffered one of its worst losses of the season Tuesday night, falling to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, 13-7. Bethune-Cookman scored six different innings, but most of the damage came in the seventh. Three Florida pitchers — Eli Blair, Schuyler Sandford and Cooper Walls — combined to give up five hits and three free bases (a walk and two hit batters).

Walls also made a throwing error that allowed the spiral to continue. Jackson Hoyt made the start for the Gators, going 1 1/3 innings. The Wildcats got to him for three runs on one hit, one walk and two hit batters; although, Billy Barlow was on the mound when two of those runs scored.

Barlow lasted 1 2/3, getting Florida through the third. He gave up a solo home run. Caden McDonald worked the 2 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk.

Blair got the final out of the sixth. Despite all the trouble in the seventh, Sandford went six up, six down over the final two frames. He struck out five batters — a team-high for the day.
