Iowa vacates four wins for alleged tampering involving Cade McNamara. Cade McNamara transfers to Iowa from Michigan after NCAA investigation.

After a thorough investigation, the NCAA ruled that Iowa must vacate four wins from its 2023 season due to alleged tampering and recruiting violations involving ex-Michigan QB Cade McNamara. The player transferred to Iowa from Michigan for the 2023 season but was later reported to have been involved in a scheme orchestrated by Jon Budmayr, Iowa's assistant head coach. While Ferentz, who served a one-game suspension as part of the leadup to Tuesday's penalties, acknowledged mistakes, the vacated records will remain on file.

The NCAA also handed down one year of probation and a $25,000 fine, along with reduced recruiting days and a two-week ban in 2026.
