Centerville transferring from Ohio State to MVC school

Apr. 14—Centerville High School graduate Gabe Cupps will transfer from Ohio State to the University of Illinois Chicago. Cupps, a 6-foot-2 guard, made the decision Tuesday, April 14, eight days after entering the transfer portal.

He averaged 1. 7 points in 12. 3 minutes per game in one season at Ohio State.

He made 33 appearances. Cupps spent his first two seasons at Indiana. As a sophomore, an injury limited him to four appearances, ahd he received a medical redshirt.

He has two seasons of eligibility remaining. Alter grad transferring to Southern Conference program UIC finished 19-16 last season in coach Rob Ehsan's second season. The Flames broke a four-year streak of losing records with a 17-14 finish in his first season.

UIC has spent the last four seasons in the Missouri Valley Conference after a long run in the Horizon League. It last played in the NCAA tournament in 2004.
