The Kyle Whittingham era of Michigan football has its first quarterback commitment. Four-star class of 2027 quarterback Kamden Lopati pledged to the Wolverines on Tuesday, April 14, per multiple posts on his Instagram. Lopati, a rising senior, out of West High School in Salt Lake City decommitted from Illinois earlier in the week, which led many to believe he was headed to Ann Arbor.

122 player regardless of position according to 247 Sports' composite rankings. He will join a team led by coaches previously in his hometown, including Whittingham, offensive coordinator Jason Beck and quarterback coach Koy Detmer Jr. "Savvy dual-threat quarterback that excels as a vertical passer and a power runner in a spread attack," wrote 247 Sports director of scouting Andrew Irvins.
