Russini continued to deny any wrongdoing in her resignation letter. The New England Patriots organization has not commented on the incident, and the only word from head coach Mike Vrabel came on the day that the photos were leaked. Vrabel, too, denied any wrongdoing.
The story has become the biggest piece of news in the NFL world since Vrabel’s remarks were released. However, it does not appear that fans can expect to hear from him anytime soon. ESPN insider Mike Reiss was able to acquire a timeline on the head coach’s silence.
“Vrabel is not expected to address reporters until the draft later this month, sources familiar with the matter told ESPN's Mike Reiss,” Ben Strauss wrote on ESPN. We are just seven days away from the NFL Draft, and fans are wondering how much -- if at all -- this distraction could have affected Vrabel and the front office’s pre-draft process. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes that Vrabel will likely issue a statement in the coming days and direct reporters to said statement should he be asked about the incident in Pittsburgh.
