Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding is wary of distractions other coaches have made headlines for, including social media and golf

OXFORD โ€” Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding has a reason for avoiding distractions as other coaches have made headlines for social media and playing golf. "I'm not good enough at this job to be on (social media) all damn day and do this job," Golding said April 14. "I don't know how (other coaches) do it.

More power to them. I'll learn one day. There's enough things in the building that I need to do and do at a high level.

" Golding wasn't asked about one particular coach, but some come to mind. Former Auburn coach Hugh Freeze was criticized for playing golf during the season. Former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is particularly active on social media.

Although Golding is known for posting only shark emojis on X when Ole Miss gets a commitment, he still sees criticism, praise and other feedback directed his way online. "Obviously I've got kids, and we've got people who work here that do all that," Golding said. "Things get brought up, or someone will send me a text message.
