Yahoo Sports

Louisiana Tech's saga with Conference USA amid its move to the Sun Belt finally appears to be over.

The contentiousness between Louisiana Tech and Conference USA has simmered for nearly a year, and it finally has a resolution. Louisiana Tech is taking its talent to the Sun Belt, and C-USA stands to profit handsomely from the Bulldogs' departure. A report from Front Office Sports indicated that C-USA will receive more than the $8 million it received when UTEP left to join the Mountain West.

Some might view the record fee as a "don't let the door hit you on the way out" gesture by C-USA, which had been less than thrilled with Louisiana Tech's behavior. The Bulldogs have teased a move to the Sun Belt for many months, but C-USA reportedly wasn't happy that the program gave less than 14 months' notice per conference rules. Exclusive: Louisiana Tech will pay a C-USA record exit fee to leave the conference and join the Sun Belt, FOS has learned.
