Missouri basketball lands 2nd transfer with Providence wing Jamier Jones
Missouri basketball is on the board in the transfer portal, as Providence wing Jamier Jones became the first player to commit to MU this offseason.
Make that two commitments in two days for the Tigers in the transfer portal. Missouri men’s basketball has received a commitment from Providence transfer wing Jamier Jones, who announced Tuesday via his Instagram account that he is joining head coach Dennis Gates’ team. He is the Tigers’ second commitment out of the transfer portal in this window in as many days, following Tennessee big man Jaylen Carey’s commitment on Monday.
Jones was a true freshman last season for the Friars, starting 19 games and playing in 31 for the Big East team. He arrives at a major position of need for Mizzou. The wing, who is listed at 6 foot 6 and 218 pounds, averaged 11.
9 points, 4. 5 rebounds and 1. 4 assists per game last season for Providence.
Jones, who is from Sarasota, Florida, shot 57. 0% from the field and 38. 7% from 3-point range, albeit on just one attempt per game from behind the arc, as a rookie.
