Michigan State safety has pre-Draft visit with New England Patriots

•Yahoo Sports

A former Michigan State safety has met with the New England Patriots in the week before the NFL Draft

With the NFL Draft kicking off next week, teams and players are hard at work getting their meetings and workouts in as they round out their due diligence for the draft. While Michigan State football doesn't have anyone expected to go in the first round this year, they do have a handful of players who will, at the very least, find a landing spot at the next level in some capacity. One of those players is Malik Spencer, the veteran safety who started for three seasons at MSU and had 52 tackles, five pass breakups, and two sacks last season for the Spartans.

According to Jordan Schultz, Spencer met with the New England Patriots this week for a 30-visit. 30-visits are a mechanism for NFL teams to invite 30 players to their facility as part of the pre-draft process to engage in workouts and interviews. They are usually reserved for late-draft or undrafted free agent targets for the teams.
