The former Georgia Tech big man, who appeared in just 16 games this season due to an ankle injury, is headed to West Virginia.

The Mountaineers are taking a high-upside flyer on a player who could control the paint for them next season. Mouhamed Sylla has left Georgia Tech after one season to continue his college career with West Virginia. His promising freshman campaign was limited to just 16 games due to an ankle injury.

Sylla especially flashed early on in the season during the non-conference schedule. Sylla was a highly sought after recruit before his freshman season, as Kansas and other schools were interested in bringing the Senegalese center into their programs. USA TODAY Sports had Sylla ranked in the top 20 of remaining transfer portal players available as of April 13.

Georgia Tech transfer Mouhamed Sylla is off the board to West Virginia. Former top-30 recruit with plenty of preseason hype, started off strong before an ankle injury. Ross Hodge putting together a talented top of the roster: Sylla, freshman Miles Sadler, Finley Bizjack.
