Former Wisconsin women's basketball forward selected in WNBA Draft
Former Wisconsin Badgers women's basketball forward Serah Williams was selected by the Portland Fire in the WNBA Draft. Williams was selected in the third round as the No. 33 overall selection .
The Portland Fire are the newest team in the WNBA, which continues to expand at a rapid rate. Williams, who finished her career at UConn, has a chance to make an immediate impact in Portland. The Brooklyn, NY, native started 30 games as a freshman for the Badgers during the 2022-23 season.
In her four-year career she appeared in 129 games and started all but two of those. Williams, who averaged a career high 19. 2 points per game in 2024-25, left Wisconsin to join the Huskies' pursuit of another national championship.
They came up short in that regard, as she averaged just 17. 4 minutes per game as a 38-game starter. Congrats to former Badger Serah Williams on being selected in the WNBA Draft!
