STJD charges players over brawl in Corinthians vs Palmeiras derby The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) scheduled for next Friday at 10 a. m. the hearing regarding the incidents that took place in the 0-0 draw between Corinthians and Palmeiras.

The derby, played at Neo Química Arena and valid for the 11th round of the Brasileirão, was marked by red cards during regulation time and backstage turmoil after the final whistle. Four Corinthians players were charged, along with one staff member, and will answer for alleged violations of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD). In addition, both teams were also charged under Article 257 (read more below) André (Corinthians defensive midfielder): Charged under Article 258 of the CBJD.

Matheuzinho (Corinthians full-back): Charged under Article 254-A. Breno Bidon (Corinthians midfielder): Charged under Article 250. Hugo Souza (Corinthians goalkeeper): Charged under Article 243-F.

Luiz Fernando dos Santos (Member of the Corinthians delegation): Charged under Article 257. Corinthians (Home club): Charged under Articles 213, §1; 206; 243-G; 243-G, §2; and 257. Palmeiras (Away club): Charged under Article 257.

🟥 Red cards The tense atmosphere on the pitch resulted in two red cards for the black-and-white side: André (34' of the 1st half): Referee Flávio Rodrigues de Souza sent off the defensive midfielder after identifying an obscene gesture directed at Palmeiras midfielder Andreas Pereira. Matheuzinho (23' of the 2nd half): The full-back received a straight red after striking striker Flaco López in the face during the start of a scuffle. 🥊 Backstage turmoil The controversies continued off the field after the match ended.
