Capela Delivers Big Night - And a First Career Three

Yahoo Sports

Clint Capela dominates the glass and scores a season-high, sinking his first-ever three-pointer in a career-defining performance.

Clint Capela picked the perfect night to have one of his best games of not only the season, but of his twelve-year NBA career. In the regular season finale against the Memphis Grizzlies, Capela stuffed the stat sheet and controlled the glass- and much of the game all night. The numbers tell the story: 23 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, a steal, and a team-high +24.

Efficiency first- Capela went 9-of-11 from the field, living around the rim, finishing through contact, and cleaning up everything Houston dropped. Seven of his 13 rebounds came on the offensive glass, which meant second chances… and then third chances. That’s how leads grow quietly.

And how this game turned to easy domination. The entire bench took to their feet in the fourth quarter. With the game already in hand, Capela stepped out and let one fly from deep- and drilled it.

His first career three. After going 0-of-8 from distance across his entire career, including an earlier miss that same night, he went right back to it and knocked it down like it’s been there all along. But the three isn’t really the story here- it’s the confidence to take it, and everything else he was doing before and after it- the relentless rim protection, the positioning, and the physicality on both ends.
