ELMIRA, N. Y. (WETM) – Horseheads baseball picked up a big win, as the spring sports season rolls on.
The Blue Raiders beat Elmira 8-2 on Monday, taking the 1st of a 3-game series for the week. Horseheads kicked off their victory with early offense, seeing RBI-singles from Lyncoln Bennett and Mason Markle, in the 1st and 3rd frames. Markle added another RBI to the Blue Raiders total, along with Hunter Matkosky.
Bennett crossed the plate twice on the day, while 5 other Horseheads hitters did the same. Keegan Monahan was the team’s most efficient at the bat, going (3-5). On the mound, Cooper Ball collected 8 strikeouts over 6 innings, before Markle closed out the effort with another.
