Lancaster baseball gets back on track with dominant shutout
After their first loss, the Lancaster baseball team bounced back with a dominant 14-0 victory over Logan, led by Brayden Montgomery and Cole Atkins.
LANCASTER — After suffering its first loss of the season on April 11, the Lancaster baseball team wasted no time getting back on track. The Golden Gales scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning against visiting Logan on Monday, April 13, and never let up as they cruised to a 14-0, five-inning Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division victory at England Field. Lancaster improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the OCC.

You can have a rough game, but you get another chance the next day,” Lancaster coach Corey Conn said. “You just try to have the mindset that’s a new day, a new game, and go out and play with some energy, and we did that.
” Senior catcher Brayden Montgomery set the tone in the top of the first inning. After the Chieftains’ first batter singled, he promptly threw him out trying to steal second. The same thing happened in the second inning when a Logan batter doubled, Montgomery threw him out trying to steal third.
As it turned out, those would be Logan’s only two hits, and Montgomery erased them both. “We just wanted to come out and get back in our groove again,” Montgomery said. “After starting 7-0 and dropping a game, we had to have a short memory.
