Former Rams assistant coach Dave McGinnis dies at 74
Dave McGinnis was the assistant head coach under Jeff Fisher in St. Louis and Los Angeles.
The NFL announced the passing of longtime assistant coach Dave McGinnis on Monday. He wa 74 years old. McGinnis, born in 1951, began his coaching career at Texas Christian University in 1973.
He would embark on an NFL coaching career in 1986, joining the Chicago Bears, going on to spend a 31 years in the league. From 1986-2016, McGinnis coached on the Bears, Rams , Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals, for which he served as head coach from 2000 to 2003. The Rams were one of several teams to post public tributes to McGinnis for his service to the franchise.
McGinnis was the Rams' assistant head coach under Jeff Fisher, serving in that role from 2012-2016. After the 2016 season, McGinnis retired. Fisher and McGinnis worked together during their stops with the Bears, Titans, and Rams.
