WNBA Draft 2026: Storm trade up with Valkyries for Flau'jae Johnson, send Marta Suárez, pick in return

WNBA commissioner Cathy Englebert announced the trade to a stunned draft room shortly after Suárez was drafted.
For less than an hour Monday night, Flau'jae Johnson was a member of the Golden State Valkyries as the No. 8 pick in the WNBA Draft. But she’ll wear a different jersey than the one she posed with on the draft stage in her WNBA debut.
The Seattle Storm selected Marta Suárez with the No. 16 pick, then immediately traded Suárez to Golden State for the rights to Johnson. The Valkyries will also receive a second-round pick in the 2028 draft in the deal.
