MSU basketball reportedly expected to host elite transfer portal center
One media site is reporting that Michigan State is "close to" locking in a visit with a prominent transfer portal center prospect. Spartans Illustrated reported on Monday afternoon that Alabama transfer center Aiden Sherrell is expected to take a visit to Michigan State presumably this week. Per a social media post from Spartans Illustrated, a Michigan State visit from Sherrell is "close to being locked in" with a caveat that things are always evolving with the portal movement and things could change on this plan.
Sources tell Spartans Illustrated that an MSU visit from portal target Aiden Sherrell is "close to being locked in. " The obvious caveat that things are constantly evolving this time of year must be added here - but, from all indications, it seems like a visit is likely. — Spartans Illustrated (@Spartans_Illo) April 13, 2026 If this visit does happen this week, that would bode extremely well for the Spartans in their pursuit for this major transfer portal target.
Sherrell reportedly has met with the Spartans via Zoom and was visiting Indiana this weekend . There has not yet been any reports of a commitment to the Hoosiers at the time of this post, and if he leaves Bloomington, Ind. without committing to Indiana, then that could suggest Michigan State is the new frontrunner in his recruitment.
It should be noted, though, that an On3 insider logged a prediction in favor of the Hoosiers landing a commitment from Sherrell late on Monday. So we will have to see if this prediction comes through as true or not, as that would of course impact the odds of Sherrell visiting Michigan State. Sherrell, who is from Detroit, is one of the top prospects in the transfer portal.
He started all 34 games for the Crimson Tide this past season, averaging 11. 1 points, 6. 2 rebounds and 2.
